15 June (RENO, NV) – Criminal charges against Judy Mikovits have been dismissed by Nevada prosecutors, exonerating the renowned scientist to the cheers of supporters worldwide.  Dr. Judy Mikovits, the famous California research scientist, whose controversial Chronic Fatigue Syndrome findings were ultimately retracted by the journal, Science, was arrested in Ventura, California last year on felony charges.

Mikovits was accused of stealing lab notebooks, a computer and proprietary data from the Whittemore Peterson Institute for Neuro-Immune Disease in Reno, Nevada, which had fired her.

Judy Mikovits was arrested, booked and held inside the Ventura County Jail for possession of stolen property and theft of computer data, equipment, supplies and other property from the institute in Nevada, sending the global scientific community into shock.

Dr. Judy Mikovits is thrilled to be exonerated of all criminal charges, as are her supporters, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome patients, fellow Californians, and the attorneys who tirelessly fought for the rights of the esteemed research scientist.

“Everyone who wanted to work with me was deterred by the threat of litigation,” Mikovits had said, though it now appears that cooperation on her scientific research into Chronic Fatigue Syndrome will commence, bringing hope for millions of CFS patients desperate for a cure.

“She is happy that the complaining witnesses’ attempt to destroy her reputation failed and now she can go back to doing the only thing she has ever wanted to do, which is find a cure for chronic fatigue syndrome,” proclaimed Tammy Riggs, one of Mikovits’ defense lawyers.

The Whittemore Peterson Institute (WPI) is disappointed that the criminal charges were dropped against the famed virologist and says it will press forward with a civil lawsuit against Mikovits.

Harvey Whittemore, the husband of the institute’s founder, Annette Whittemore, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges he made illegal campaign contributions, caused a campaign committee to make false statements to the Federal Election Commission, and lied to FBI agents.

Meanwhile, the global scientific community congratulates “Dr. Judy” on her dismissal of all criminal charges and the regaining of her California freedom.
