Book Review: ‘Vaccine Epidemic’

February 14, 2011

Today several million American parents are carrying the new scarlet letter. No, they didn’t sin or feel wracked by guilt, two of the three themes that run through Nathaniel Hawthorne’s classic novel.  They have suffered from trying to protect their newborn children from disease and the pressures of an omnipresent government mandate, which is as equally restrictive and punishing with passive aggression as that which oppressed Hester Prynne with its religious dogma.

The novel’s third theme, that of legalism, is what continues to haunt American parents today. Today, legalism manifests in big government dictates on healthcare in general, and vaccine directives in particular.

Legalism is the driving force behind a powerful new book with a unique, provocative view on the autism-vaccine flashpoint. Big Pharma, bigger government, and a pliable mainstream media have been trying to squelch and censor the right to vaccine choice for the past decade.

Books like Vaccone Epidemic (2011) combined with the social networking power of the Web, make it impossible for the apocryphal CDC and NIH, the government agencies tasked with being the guardians of public health, to control and suppress all information or from putting the dark truths back in Pandora’s box.

Inflating of the Vaccine Bubble

Vaccine Epidemic: How Corporate Greed, Biased Science, and Coercive Government Threaten our Human Rights, Our Health, and Our Children, edited by Louise Kuo Habakus, M.A., and Mary Holland, J.D., shines a bright light on the issue of legalism, while questioning the veracity, safety, and bloat of America’s vaccine schedule.

In short order, the reader will be engrossed, learning many unseemly and shocking facts about America’s sacred immunization program. These include sections and chapters on “herd immunity”; that vaccines are overrated, being neither a panacea nor responsible for curing diseases, since most diseases ebb and flow through society in their own life cycles; that by the time a child turns 18 he will have received 16 different vaccines with a total of 70 booster shots and components; that Big Pharma, with a wink from the government, bypass vaccine safety tests and protocols in fast tracking new products to the market; that a FOIA request for safety data related to the birth dose of the hepatitis B vaccine from the CDC is now more than 10 years old and counting; that the doses of thimerosal in the 1990s’ vaccines grossly exceeded the EPA safety limits on daily mercury exposure; and that the U.S. military used American servicemen as guinea pigs without doing minimal safety tests on a new, unproven anthrax vaccine.

Though the book is written by more than two-dozen authors, its central theme is freedom of choice. Does the government own the right to inoculate children or do their the legal guardians?

The first six chapters focus on fundamental and international human rights for choice and freedom, legal rights and parents’ rights, and “Due Process and the American Constitution.” These first 50 pages are a triumph. They remind parents not only of their inalienable rights as American citizens and human beings, but more importantly will get them thinking, questioning, and scrutinizing the exaggerated claims made by the government and pharmaceutical industry.

Vaccine Efficacy and Safety

The push by federal and state governments to make injecting newborn babies and infants with vaccines of unproven safety and questionable ingredients – aluminum hydroxide, pig and bovine DNA, and thimerosal, although in lesser amounts – backs not only an argument against the Puritanism of today’s vaccine program, but it exposes the propaganda machine of Big Pharma, the government, and the press for what it really is: a collusive, profit driven calculus to control people and diminish their rights.

In the chapter “The Vaccine Bubble and the Pharmaceutical Industry,” financial analyst Michael Belkin discusses how vaccines are licensed and mandated. He punctures the CDC and state health departments’ claims for the need to increase the widespread use of vaccines based on epidemiology statistics.

He wrote:

“I use statistical models to forecast markets, so I am particularly aware of the capabilities and limitations of statistics. In the financial markets, statistical fraud has a cost. If you fake the numbers you will eventually get caught, fired, and prosecuted. The medical profession and government agencies like the CDC and the World Health Organization (WHO) seem to operate under a different standard. Estimates of disease prevalence are exaggerated.”

Vaccine Bubble About to Burst

In the center of the book are many powerful visual images, from the vaccine schedule, which resembles a multi-million dollar construction schedule, to a newborn baby’s foot, which just had its heel jabbed to extract blood for a little-known government DNA database. But the one picture of a pair of babies taken by the Colorado Dept. of Health, shows pediatricians how to maximize the number of vaccines given and where to administer them in five and seven shots in one visit.

It’s a shocking image that paints science and medicine running amok.

In reaching out to the editors, I asked about where they got the great title for their book, and Louise Kuo Habakus replied via email:

“We chose the title Vaccine Epidemic very carefully. The book asserts that vaccines are epidemic – they have spread rapidly and extensively. Vaccination is worldwide, widespread, and increasing. We emphasize these aspects of growth, scope, and prevalence that we emphasize. We do not intend to liken vaccination to disease. Our goal is to highlight a proliferation of vaccines that is unprecedented in human history, and to explain why vaccination choice must prevail.”

As the government, Big Pharma, and media continue their pressure campaign against an autism-vaccine link, spending tens of millions of dollars to stifle dissent, discourse, and debate over parents’ legitimate concerns about the safety of and additives in vaccines, people will not be pushed around or suppressed for long.

As Ms. Kuo Habakus emphasizes,

Vaccine Epidemic is the first mass market book that builds a comprehensive case for vaccination choice as a fundamental human right, through the work of two dozen credentialed professionals and mainstream parents.”
